Watershed Enhancement and Sustainability Techniques Programs

  Sustainable Ranching Program

Due to the Oregon Cattlemen's Association award by the USDA Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education grant program and a lot of work from our Science Advisor, Pat Larson, it has been possible to implement a Sustainable Ranching Program (SRP). This outreach program is designed to educate livestock producers about the changing state and federal environmental regulations impacting agriculture. It gives our ranchers awareness of environmental quality laws and provides important information to ensure continuation of economically viable cattle operations.

The program provides technical assistance through the release of an informative tool kit, a user-friendly webpage and round table discussions. The SRP is a service-oriented education program to help producers understand what their environmental requirements are and where they can turn for help. It also provides an opportunity for us to receive input from producers on areas where they need more information and what changes are needed.

If you would like more information about the Sustainable Ranching Program or are interested in having a round table in your area please contact Kay Teisl at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
